Hope hat-trick steers Vasco past Wisroc

OSWIN Hope struck a hat-trick as Vasco defeated Wisroc 5-4, when action in the Guyana Beach Football Association-organised Banks Beach Football League which got under way last Sunday in the mining town of Linden. Following the march past of the teams at the Christianburg ground, Vasco and Wisroc faced each other in the second match, after Cool Runnings and Eagles played to a draw in the first fixture of this year’s tournament.
Hope found the back of the net in the 2nd, 11th and 23rd minute respectively to go along with Jason Allicock’s brace in the 21st and 27th minute for Vasco, while Jonathan Fredericks (3rd and 4th), Collis Gift (9th) and an own goal from Hope, accounted for Wisroc goals.
In the Cool Runnings versus Eagles encounter, Nigel Bradford (2nd, 26th), Deron Smith (3rd), Dirk Farrell (23rd) and an own goal from Cedric Hunte in the 28th minute accounted for Eagles goals.
For Cool Runnings, Kennard Simon (12th, 25th), Seon Brewley (8th), Errol Davis (14th) and Marlon Benjamin in the 21st minute were the goalscorers.
In the third match of the day, Top 25 came out on top over Silver Shattas with a 4-3 scoreline, with Keith Bailey chalking up a double in the 22nd and 23rd minutes along with goals from Shakie Charles who opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and Delon Bailey’s strike in the 4th minute.
Colwyn Davids struck a double for Silver Shattas in the 11th and 28th minute, while Damion Williams scored his lone goal in the 26th minute.
The fourth encounter between Blue Berry Hill and The Development Team did not materialise, since the former failed to show up, handing the latter the victory via walkover.
Action in the tournament, which is being played on a round-robin format and will see the participating teams play each other once, will continue on Thursday at the same venue commencing at 17:00hrs.
