GSL year of action to commence soon with T10 tourney

THE Guyana Softball League (GSL), along with its affiliates Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL), Linden SCL, Lower East Coast SCL, Upper East Coast SCL), Berbice SCL and Essequibo SCL will be hosting the Preparatory T10 softball cricket tournament for male and female softball cricket teams around the country. According to reports, the tournament is collaboratively sponsored by Moonlite Trading Company, Lamaha Street Kitty; Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Seaforth Street Campbellville; Elegance Jewellery and Pawnshop in D’Urban Street; and Mike’s Copy Centre, Camp Street.
These sponsors willingly came forward to support this initiative and expressed their willingness to give their support to sports which plays a great role in the interaction of all communities.
The Guyana Softball League has expressed its gratitude for this support and in fact will be approaching other entities for support so as to allow for other incentives to be given.
The officials of GSL have also given their word that they will do all that is necessary to ensure the sponsors receive the mileage they deserve and to ensure that the tournament leaves a great impact on the people of Guyana as is customary with the GSL
The tournament will be able to allow teams to get in gear for more practice in the composition of their teams for the upcoming GTT 10/10. It will be played on a knock-out basis
In the male open category, the winner will pocket $100 000 and the runner-up will have to settle for $40 000 while there is also the man-of-the-match award in the final to be won. The female category will see the victor claim $50 000 and the runner-up will receive $25 000 while a player-of-the-match award is up for grabs too.
In addition to the T10 there will be an Over-35 category which will be played in the Twenty20 format at venues throughout the country. The top prize will be $75 000 while the runner-up will receive $35 000.
