THE Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) has expressed its fullest solidarity with the Grenada Technical Allied and Workers Union (GTAWU) and especially those members employed at the Grenada Breweries Limited (GBL) in the struggle for an improvement in their pay and working conditions. GAWU, in a statement, said the undermining tactics by the company through the employment of scabs, the lock-out of workers and the refusal to negotiate in earnest, have triggered stronger resolve by the workers in the battle which the company has initiated.
According to GAWU, GBL must be reminded that “massa days” are long over and no one accepts roughshod actions and practices.
GAWU calls on GBL to end forthwith the lockout and to engage in earnest negotiations with the union under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Labour.
