Region 2 planning bigger, brighter Mash celebrations

MASHRAMANI celebrations and activities in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) are expected to be much bigger, brighter and more colourful next year, according to Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo. He said he wants the Private Sector to be fully involved in the programme which will be themed ‘Mashing with pride, keeping with traditions.’
Regional Coordinator, Mr. Daneshwar Gangoo told stakeholders, at the first planning meeting, in the Regional Boardroom at Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast yesterday, that it would include children art and essay competitions, debate at the secondary school level, Best Neighbourhood and Best Decorated and Illuminated buildings competitions, floats and road show.
He said the nine Amerindian communities will be cleaning and brightening up their villages by self-help for the Republic Anniversary.
Gangoo said there will be Melody King and Queen contests, as well and the Education Department would host the rivalry among children in all schools across the region.
