GRC assisted 137 families during 2011

REPRESENTATIVES of the Guyana Relief Council (GRC) during the past two months visited and interview a number of families who lost their homes due to fire. Assistance was given in the form of food supplies, building materials, clothing, school supplies, hygiene items, kitchen utensils and household items. For the year to date, the council facilitated 137 families affected by disasters, and persons in difficult circumstances.
The motto of the council is “caring and sharing.”
The GRC is strongly committed to humanitarian principles and is unprejudiced in providing assistance to victims of disastrous circumstances.
The GRC is a non-profit organization registered under the Friendly Societies Act of Guyana and is managed by an executive body of volunteers.
The GRC is now closed for two weeks, with effect from December 19 last, and arrangements are in place to facilitate assistance should any disaster occur during this period.
The council’s executive and members of staff wish to extend their heart-felt gratitude to their many supporters who assisted in fulfiling its mandate during 2011.
