Paved all-weather road to Lima dumpsite welcomed

GOVERNMENT, through the regional administration in Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam), has spent $3,997,330 to build a paved, all-weather road to the Lima dumpsite, from the main Essequibo Coast thoroughfare. Regional Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo said the project was funded under the region’s capital programme for this year.
The new route will be used by scores of residents in the area and the Anna Regina Town Council to transport garbage from the township to the dumpsite which is located away from the residential area.
During rainy weather, the passage, which was constructed with sand and loam, deteriorated very badly, especially when the waste had to be transported by tractor and trailer on a daily basis.
Residents in the area, especially devotees of a mandir along the way, have welcomed the new development.
