MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony met the president (ag) and representatives of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and president and executives members of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) in his Secretariat last Thursday. This meeting followed the Hon. Minister’s meeting with both the GFF and GFA separately on Tuesday at the same venue.
During both meetings Minister Anthony said that the reason for the meetings is to first establish the issues affecting the administration and development of football in relation to the GFF/GFA and to find a common ground for the resolution of the issues with the major interest being to foster the development football for the national good.
The meetings were cordial, with both parties being allowed objective and frank submissions with recommendations for resolving the issues.
With both the GFF and GFA demonstrating willingness to resolve the issues discussed, it is evident that the progress made will lead to a win-win for the football.
The follow-up meeting was planned for yesterday, where it is expected that the issues tabled would be resolved with recommendations and an action plan for the way forward.
Minister Anthony commended both the GFF and GFA for their keen interest and demonstration of commitment to move the process forward.
