Passenger succumbs to injuries sustained in Canal No. 2 bus accident

POLICE report that Ryan Rajcoomar, 21, of Claybrick Road, Canal Number Two Polder, West Bank Demerara, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) at about 9:30 hrs on Sunday, following an accident on the Canal No.2 Public Road on Thursday, December 8.
Rajcoomar was a passenger in a minibus that collided with a parked tractor-trailer while overtaking another motor vehicle on December 08. Relatives say that at the time of the accident, Rajcoomar was heading home and the minibus driver was reportedly drunk.  The vehicle reportedly encountered a heap of stones, hit a parked low-bed truck, and toppled after hitting a tree, causing Rajcoomar to be flung out of the vehicle.
He was severely injured, and died without regaining consciousness. He is said to be an only child.

Meanwhile, police yesterday disclosed that, for this year, 109 persons were killed in 100 road accidents countrywide; while for the corresponding period last year, 111 persons lost their lives from 97 road accidents.

Meanwhile, police report that at about 21:00 hrs on Thursday, Orlando Williams, 26, of Eccles, East Bank Demerara died at Agricola when he crashed after losing control of his motorcycle, CF8907, having come into contact with the rear wheel of a bicycle being pushed across the western carriageway of the East Bank Demerara Highway by Eon Boyce, 42, of Agricola.

Both Williams and Boyce were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for their injuries; Boyce was treated and sent away, Williams was admitted, and later succumbed to his injuries.
