…they’re all men of integrity and honour, says Gerry Gouveia
THE Private Sector Commission (PSC) is pleased that the leaders of all the political parties are men of honour and integrity, and has pledged to continue to work with them, in the interest of Guyana. Former Commission Chairman, Captain Gerry Gouveia, made this comment in an interview yesterday, immediately following the announcement of the 2011 election results, at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Media Centre, Pegasus Hotel.
Speaking of the PSC approach to future discussions with the new government, Gouveia assured that the commission has always “stood on the ground” of maintaining trust between all the political parties and will continue to do so, in the interest of all.
In addition, he lauded the efforts of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), noting that they “stood the test of time”.
He explained, “I have always had tremendous confidence in GECOM, we have been working with them for the last five years, monitoring and consulting…today they proved that my confidence in GECOM was fruitful and justified. I am leaving this room tonight very happy and pleased that all the commissioners representing all the political parties have endorsed the results.”
Meanwhile, President of the Georgetown Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Komal Ramnauth urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the new government in an effort “to move Guyana forward”.
“I think that today, what we see is Guyana winning, and there will be more collaboration between the politicians and the people. We have waited long enough, and I think most of Guyana will be happy with the outcome of this election,” he stated.
