New Shell Service Station has soft opening
THE new Shell Service Station, at Vlissengen Road and Lama Avenue, Bel Air Park, Georgetown, had a ‘soft’ opening yesterday but the grand, official function is billed for later this month.
Guyana Chronicle reporter, Vanessa Narine was the first customer in the Sol Shop and she was followed by other members of the Editorial Department.
“What are neighbours for,” Manager Robin Lowe joked, alluding to the newspaper premises behind.
He explained that the soft opening was done to facilitate checking all the systems in place, to ascertain their readiness for serving the public.
Special guests have already been invited for the ceremony that will take place on a date to be announced by the management of Sol Guyana Inc, for which Shell is the retail dealer in Guyana, responsible for the actual operations, Lowe pointed out.
Sol would determine the right time for declaring the outlet open, when there is not so much post elections tension but Lowe assured that it will not be too long from now.
A new feature of the fuel station is the ‘Fast n’ Fresh’ chain that is common to other Sol stations and Lowe said there is to be a ‘Deli Counter’ that will offer salads, hot dogs, coffee etc.
He said the new shop is more spacious, offers a wider variety of products and higher volume to cater for a greater number of people transiting it.
