THE man who was fatally shot during an armed confrontation with police ranks at Maripa Dukwari Landing in the Cuyuni River on November 27, has been identified as Dwayne Little, known as “Tattoo Man”. Police indicated that Little was positively identified by his mother yesterday.
Little was before the courts for several matters, including robbery under arms, possession of arms and ammunition without licence, and discharging a loaded firearm with intent.
In addition, he was a suspect in a number of armed robberies, particularly those committed on Brazilian nationals working in the interior, police reported.
In an initial report, police had said that an unknown man of mixed race was shot and killed on Sunday, November 27, at Maripa Dukwari Landing, Cuyuni River, when he and two armed accomplices attacked two police ranks escorting two ballot boxes to Maripa Dukwari and Kurutuku.
The attackers had allegedly attempted to disarm the police ranks, who were armed, during which one of them was fatally shot.
The ballot boxes and ballot materials are all intact.
Police recovered two 9mm pistols and one .357 firearm along with twelve rounds of ammunition at the scene.
