DFA/Mackeson Senior League …

Kings, BV & Buxton Stars in the running for championship honours
THE battle is well and truly on for championship honours in the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA)/Ansa McAl Mackeson Senior League which is expected to end this weekend.
The frontrunners are all in a must-win situation if they are to lay claim to the title and bragging rights for the next year.
Victoria Kings on 30 points will take on home team BV Triumph United on 28 points in their respective final games of the season and this is expected to be a humdinger of a battle from 15:30hrs on Sunday.
Over at the Buxton Ground also on Sunday, Bakewell Buxton Stars (28 points) will entertain Mahaica (15 points) in what is anticipated to be an exciting tussle with the home team aiming to win by a massive margin of goals while Mahaica will be seeking to end the season on a high.
Fans and supporters of all the teams are expected to come out in their numbers to cheer on their stars at BV and Buxton grounds.
In results from last week’s matches, Victoria Kings and Bakewell Buxton Stars battled to a nil-all stalemate while BV Triumph United battled back from a 2-goal deficit to draw with Buxton United (28 points) 3-3.
Buxton United had cantered into the lead compliments of a Jamal Booker double (41st, 50th) and felt that they were sailing nicely along before Uaan Grant in the 55th minute reduced the advantage.
The 2-goal cushion was however restored for Buxton United when Orsan Washington found the back of the nets in the 70th minute.
BV Triumph had to pull out all the stops with their experienced players taking control. Shawn Daniels reduced the lead with his 78th-minute effort and they were guaranteed an equal share of the spoils when Runnel Gordon rocked the nets four minutes before lemon time.
The other teams that participated are Plaisance (10 points), Ann’s Grove (4 points) and Golden Stars who ended the League without registering a single point.
