After Tuesday collision…

Minibus driver charged with causing motorcyclist death
POLICE have charged a minibus driver with causing the Tuesday death of motorcyclist Patrice Welcome, who was killed on Aubrey Barker Road, in South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown.

Kevin Hope appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday on the charge of causing death of the mechanic by dangerous driving.
He pleaded not guilty to having committed the offence on November 15, while driving BNN 9334 in a manner dangerous to the public.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant’s vehicle was proceeding east along Aubrey Barker Road and attempted to overtake a motor car when it collided with the victim, who was driving motor cycle CG 197 on the Western side of the road.
The prosecutor said, as a result of the collision, Welcome fell off his motorcycle, suffered head injuries and died on the spot.
Hope was put on $200,000 bail and made to lodge his passport.
Meanwhile, the case will be called, again, on January 23, 2012.
