NATIONAL cycling coach Hassan Mohamed has organised the twelfth annual Diamond Mineral Water (DMW) 50-mile road cycle race of which the differently-abled Walter Grant-Stuart is the defending champion in the Open category, to close off his cycling events for this year.
The race will commence from Wales Police Station at 09:00hrs and proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Demerara before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB) for the finish, with the Veteran and Upright Cyclists turning back at the Uitvlugt Community Centre and proceeding to the DHB for the finish.
The event is open to all racing cyclists in the Veteran, Juniors, Seniors, Upright and Ladies’ categories, with the first six overall finishers receiving prizes, while the first three finishers in the Juniors, Veterans and Upright categories along with the first female and Veteran Over 60 years old will be rewarded.
Eight prime prizes will be up for grabs during the event and at the end of same, representatives from Demerara Distillers Limited, the sole distributor for Diamond Mineral Water will be on hand to assist with the distribution of prizes won.
