BARRY Jo appeared in court, on Thursday, charged with using threatening language and behaviour towards his sister, Areza Lewis. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded not guilty to both charges, which stated that he committed the offences, on November 8, on Broad Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, causing a breach of the peace.
The virtual complainant told the court her brother is in the habit of verbally abusing her and he has a slight mental problem.
She alleged that the defendant would usually walk around showing his penis and her daughters and neighbours would see.
The woman said the defendant is out of control and needs some time to “catch himself”.
She said Jo became annoyed because discarded paper was in the yard and used a knife to threaten her.
However, the defendant said he had a misunderstanding with his sister and the neighbour intervened, causing him to brandish the knife on the neighbour, not his sibling.
Jo was granted $10,000 bail on both charges until November 23.
