UNDP, government launch Guyana HDR today

THE Government of Guyana and the Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will today jointly launch the Guyana Human Development Report (HDR) at the United Nations Office, Brickdam. Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon made the disclosure yesterday at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown.
“This year, under evaluation by the UN, has in Guyana seen solidly improving performances in the areas that have to be reviewed. Using official indices of national performance in those areas, particularly our socio economic performances, poverty reduction, environmental sustainability, among others,” Dr Luncheon said.
Luncheon pointed out that Guyana has improved on its ranking compared to the 2010 report.
“Such a development, its improvement, was expected as the internal review of those self-same parameters reported in Parliament, reported in the press, all point to national progress on all fronts.”
