JEREMIAH Cameron (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday on a drug trafficking charge. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on November 3, at Konawaruk Backdam, Potaro, he had 5,584 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in his possession for the purpose.
Police Corporal, Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting said ranks were conducting an exercise at Konawaruk Junction, where they stopped mini-bus BMM 7296.
The prosecutor said a search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis concealed in a box and the defendant admitted ownership.
Cameron will make his next court appearance on January 18.
