IN an effort to provide a continued and enlightened form of interaction with the public, the People’s Progressive Party’s (PPP/C) Presidential Candidate, Donald Ramotar, has conceded to participate in two upcoming presidential debates, slated for November 9 and 15.
The party’s executive member and Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud, made this announcement yesterday, during a media briefing at the PPP/C headquarters, Robb Street.
According to Persaud, Mr. Ramotar has indicated his availability for the two debates.
He explained, “I know there has been a lot of misrepresentation, in fact the opposition has been suggesting that Mr. Ramotar was dodging, although we made it quite clear that once we have the availability of time and the arrangements were put in place, we would participate.”
The first debate is scheduled to be held at the University of Guyana, in the George Walcott Lecture Theatre, at 15:00 hours.
This has been organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Persaud informed, while the National Communications Network (NCN) has issued an invitation to Mr. Ramotar and the other political parties to participate in another presidential debate.
The PPP/C Executive member expressed the hope that all parties invited would take the opportunity to participate in the debate.
