DIGICEL Guyana yesterday announced its decision to compensate all BlackBerry subscribers who were affected by last week’s service disruption.
Pre-paid subscribers will receive an additional week of service, while post-paid subscribers’ fees will be waived.
Customers will be notified by text message today and tomorrow when their accounts have been appropriately adjusted.
All services affected by the recent connectivity failure have been fully restored. Top up services were restored on Thursday evening, while other services, including GPRS/EDGE, were fully restored over the weekend.
Digicel’s CEO, Gregory Dean, again apologised to all customers for the inconvenience they had endured, and gave assurances that Digicel did everything possible to get all affected services restored in the shortest possible time.
“The recovery of services took longer than what is acceptable, due to the degree of damage experienced at a critical satellite connection site that was struck by lightning. We know that the disruption severely affected customers, and we sincerely apologise,” he said.
