Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Vernon Alexander, 59, of Mabura, whose lifeless body was found lying on the 47 Miles, Mabura Road at about 06:00 hours on Sunday, October 23, 2011 with a wound to the head. The body is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, at about 17:00hrs on Sunday, October 23, 2011, while police ranks at Mabura were responding to a report of threats, they saw a man walking along the roadway with a bag in his hand.
On seeing the police, the man began to run, and was pursued by the ranks, during which he dropped the bag and escaped.
The bag was searched and a .32 revolver with three matching rounds was found.
