COMPTON Lynch and Royston Austin (no addresses given) appeared in court yesterday on a joint wounding charge. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, they were charged indictably with having, on October 15, intending to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm, wounded Mark James.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the two accused and the virtual complainant had a misunderstanding and a scuffle ensued amongst the three, during which James was stabbed and had to be hospitalised.
Defence counsel Patrice Henry, in his bail application, argued that the virtual complainant was the aggressor and the incident had occurred because a female had approached Austin.
Both accused were placed on $100,000 bail each until December 19.
Meanwhile, Lynch faced a separate drug charge, which said on October 15, he had 1.6 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) in his possession.
He pleaded guilty and was fined $3,000 and ordered to do three months community service.
