DEVON Baptiste, 18, one of two men accused of a robbery at Sophia Exhibition Complex, was remanded to prison yesterday.
He alone appeared on the charge of robbery with violence, before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell but was not required to plea.
Particulars of the offence said, on October 2, he robbed Onet Cromwell of two gold chains, valued $14,000 and, at the time, made use of personal violence on the victim.
An arrest warrant was issued for Patrick Smith, who was also arrested for the crime but escaped when he was escorted for medical treatment, said police sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting.
The prosecutor successfully objected to bail for Baptiste, based on the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood of him not returning to court for trial if allowed freedom.
The case will be called, again, on October 27.
