Guyana’s development always a priority

– President Jagdeo assures
PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo, at a press conference Tuesday, assured that Guyana’s development will always remain his top priority, and will always have “first call” on his energies, intellect and experience.
“This is home to me, the people who live here are my people, and anything I can do to advance our well-being as a country, that is priority for me,” the President who will be demitting office shortly, said.

He disclosed that despite a large number of lucrative offers to work in other jurisdictions in various capacities, Guyana is where he would prefer to serve and continue making his contribution towards the country’s development in a post-presidential role.
Responding to a question with regard to the PPP/C’s slate for the upcoming elections, he said that it is very exciting as the party is uniquely positioned, having young, vibrant people who also have a wealth of experience in managing government affairs. This, he said, is one significant advantage that the party has over the others contesting this year’s election.
“We have a lot of young people… they have been tried and tested in very serious conditions, they offer the greatest chance at continuity, and so young people will be a prominent part of our campaign,” the Head of State said.
“We believe that we have a plan that is already unfolding. It is not a mere promise, it is a plan that is unfolding before the eyes of everyone for an exciting Guyana, with a new economy and new sectors generating most of the wealth of the future, sectors in which young people have a very important role to play, and we are very confident that people will see the difference between us and the others,” the Head of State said.
