Knight Riders win to stay in Champions League

..Somerset and Redbacks share points
KOLKATA Knight Riders won a rain-affected clash with the Warriors by 22 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method to keep their Champions League Twenty20 hopes alive.
The Knight Riders were 83 for one from nine overs in response to the South African side’s 155 for four when rain forced an early stoppage, with the D/L target at that point just 62.
The Warriors lost the toss and were put in and quickly lost Ashwell Prince for four, but JJ Smuts and Colin Ingram continued their impressive form with a stand of 80 for the second wicket.
Smuts, four short of a half-century, miscued Lakshmipathy Balaji to mid-off Iqbal Abdulla but Ingram put on 56 with Mark Boucher before hoisting Brett Lee to the same fielder to depart for 61.
Boucher finished 38 not out as 14 came from the last over but Kolkata openers Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis put on 35 in 3.3 overs.
Keeper Boucher dropped Kallis but held on when opposite number Bisla (19) edged a Wayne Parnell delivery. Gautam Gambhir (33no) was also dropped, by Kelly Smuts, as he shared in an unbroken stand of 48 with Kallis (31no) to ensure the IPL side were in control when the rain came.
The victory keeps alive Kolkata’s hopes of remaining in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Bangalore rain also  continued to mar what’s been, for the most part, an exciting Champions League Twenty20. The rain had relented after a downpour the previous night but the toss, won by South Australia who chose to field, took place under overcast conditions
. There was a steady drizzle not long before the scheduled start at 4pm and it intensified, leaving puddles on the outfield, ruining any possibility of play and putting the next game due to start at 8pm in jeopardy.
Somerset and South Australia gained a point each due to the abandonment. Somerset now have three points with two games in hand. South Australia also have three points but are under greater pressure, given they have just one game remaining. (Eurosport)
