Youth for the PPP/C under the IMPRESS: MAKING OUR MARK label, will be hosting its second activity, A Sip and Chat with Young Professionals, Entrepreneurs, Youth Leaders and PPP/C Presidential Candidate Mr. Donald Ramotar, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Castellani poolside on Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown. A release from IMPRESS yesterday said, “The coming together of young professionals, entrepreneurs and youth leaders with diverse backgrounds from across Guyana is part of our youth mobilization efforts, which fits squarely within the ambit of youth empowerment generally, and builds upon the widespread successes realized at the IMPRESS 1 -Youth Conference and Expo which was held at the International Convention Centre on August 11, 2011.
“ IMPRESS 2 seeks to provide a broad-based, practical forum in which young Guyanese professionals, entrepreneurs and youth leaders can constructively express their opinions and concerns about issues that directly touches their future. “Secondly, our goal is to specifically foster and promote youth entrepreneurship by assisting them to shape and implement their vision of Guyanese entrepreneurship which is both a viable and valid career option.
“An overriding concern among the thousands of those in attendance at IMPRESS 1 was about the prospects and opportunities for young professionals, entrepreneurs and young leaders in Guyana. The IMPRESS team echoes this concern primarily because we see young Guyanese professionals and business persons of today as the professionals and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Moreover, youth entrepreneurship generally provides the ability to fight poverty through medium to large scale job creation, since, as young entrepreneurs start up their businesses, they are contributing to social change and continued economic growth for our country.
“It is our sincere hope that this forum will play a large role in the furtherance of equipping our young professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders with the requisite awareness with regard to the fundamentals of their careers, business operations—devising ideas, evaluating their practicability, developing and expanding business plans and making sound financial and career decisions.
“Let us, together, continue to make our mark,” the release concluded.
