Clerk, driver/salesman charged in $7.8M theft

TWO former employees of Caribbean International Distribution Inc. appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Wednesday, on charges of larceny by clerk or servant and falsification of a document.
Anil Khan and Curt Cameron (no addresses given) were charged jointly with having, between February 9 and September 9, 2011, being clerks or servants of the company, stole 4,121 cases of Thrill aerated drinks valued $7.8M.
Khan faced a separate indictable charge, which stated that, between the same period, being a clerk or servant of company, with intent to defraud, he falsified a summary sheet belonging to his employer.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said Khan was responsible for stocks being carried in and out of the company, while Cameron was a driver/salesman.
The Prosecutor said a search by senior officials of the company revealed that several cases of drinks were missing and further investigation disclosed that records had been falsified.
Khan was put on $500,000 bail and Cameron $250,000 until October 21.
