World renowned cosmetics brand on board for Guyana Fashion Weekend

Garnier, one of the world’s leading cosmetics brands will be collaborating with the Guyana Fashion Weekend (GWF) 2011 following the presentation of a sponsorship package to organizers of the event which takes place this weekend at the GCC ground, Bourda.

Sonia Noel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GFW was presented with a sponsorship cheque valued at $500,000 and 10 hampers at a simple ceremony Monday at Geddes Grant’s head office, Mandela Avenue.

The Guyana Fashion Weekend will feature designers from Guyana, Trinidad, St Vincent, St Lucia, Barbados, Suriname and Jamaica, with Guyana’s leading models and make-up artists on show from Friday to Sunday at the GCC ground.

In announcing the sponsorship, Suzette Shim-Prittipaul, Product Specialist of the Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Department of Geddes Grant, said that Garnier and Geddes Grant Ltd. were pleased to be associated with the Guyana Fashion Weekend for the second time in five years.

Geddes Grant Ltd., is the local distributor of Garnier line of products (a member of the world leader in cosmetics, L’OREAL). 

“Guyana Fashion Weekend has over the years created an avenue for young and seasoned designers and models to showcase their talents on the runway. Garnier has always been cognizant of this fact and is once again delighted to be part of this event,” Shim-Prittipaul noted.

She disclosed that Garnier’s highly effective, innovative beauty products have always been inspired by nature and wherever possible, active natural ingredients are used. One such example of the brand’s natural products is the Garnier Pure Clean. This shampoo and conditioner is 92% biodegradable, that is, it dissolves easily in the environment without destroying nature and leaves your hair shinny and lightweight without any residue.

Shim-Prittipaul concluded: “We have found Guyana Fashion Weekend 5 as the ideal platform to showcase our commitment to the wellbeing of men and women through our excellent range of Personal and Beauty Care Products.”

Noel expressed gratitude to Garnier and Geddes Grant for sponsoring the GFW for a second time.

Noel said that GFW has made its mark in celebrating five years noting that only Jamaica’s version has surpassed that milestone.
