Harris suffers hamstring strain

AUSTRALIAN seamer Ryan Harris looks set to miss the third Test against Sri Lanka which begins in Colombo tomorrow after scans revealed he has suffered a minor hamstring strain. Harris left the field during the final day of the drawn second Test in Pallekele on Monday after complaining of hamstring stiffness and scans have revealed the 31-year-old is carrying a slight injury.
“It (the scan) showed there was a minor strain in one of the muscles in my hammy,” said Harris. “It’s probably not the news we’re after but I’m getting constant treatment. We’ll see what happens in the next day or two. There’s got to be some doubt because something showed up.”
He is the leading wicket-taker in the series so far, having removed 11 batsmen at an average of 14.54.
His absence would be a major blow to Australia who will move ahead of Sri Lanka and into fourth place in the ICC’s Test rankings should they win the series. Australia won the first Test by 125 runs in Galle.
“I’m obviously pretty keen to play but going in I am a risk. If Michael (Clarke) is happy to take me in with a slight risk then I’ll give it 100%. It’s a pretty big game so if not I’ll sit out and do as I’m told,” added Harris.
