KAIETEUR News (KN) headline captioned: “Plans being hatched against Kaieteur News” dated August 23-2011. Will Kaieteur be willing to say if its “source” is being paid to say what this report said and if so how much did Kaieteur pay their “source”?
With this report, Kaieteur News has just put government and law enforcement officials on notice that their staff and all those that are connected to Kaieteur News are above and beyond the laws of the land.
Therefore, if any staff member or anyone who is connected to Kaieteur News breaks the laws even for minor traffic offences, government officials and law enforcement officials will be held accountable.
Most Guyanese, including those of Kaieteur News, knew the garbage that it is spewing would have never been tolerated by any PNC government.
Kaieteur News knows they can get away with this and much more simply because they have freedom and rights and are living, breathing and operating in a free democratic Guyana.
I hope those at Kaieteur News know that freedom comes with a price like that of freedom of speech comes with consequences.
Kaieteur News said: “We have learnt from very reliable sources of a plot to fabricate allegations against persons connected with this newspaper so as to lay the basis for them to be charged.
This plot, we understand, has been hatched because of official concerns over the things that this newspaper has been exposing. We have been exposing the rampant corruption, the theft of national resources and the transfer of these resources to colleagues, associates and cohorts.
Certain persons in the upper echelons of the society are adamant that we should not be allowed to continue to report these things in the run-up to general and regional elections. As such, there is a plan to silence Kaieteur News by targeting persons connected with this newspaper.
One senior official has already threatened members of the Kaieteur News that should anybody ever make a mistake, be it traffic or otherwise, that staff member would be faced with the full force of the law and more.”
