Breeze promotion eases shopping groceries, school supplies hassle

THE Bryden and Fernandes promotional team held the second annual Breeze Shopping Spree for winners and their friends yesterday, at the Distribution Services Limited (DSL) Cash and Carry branch in the Ruimveldt Industrial Site. This year’s theme was ‘Tell a Neighbour, Tell a Friend’ and Sales Coordinator, Mr. Rawl Davson said that it is the way Bryden and Fernandes would, normally, give back to its customers.
He said customers were given a chance to win through its promotion once they had dropped in two 400 grammes Breeze packets and a Quix cover in the box. Once the name of the customer comes up as a winner, the person is entitled to take a friend along to shopping spree as well.
Davson also mentioned that the 2011 promotion is not being held as expected over the years, around the Christmas season. He said it was being  held with  ‘Back to School Shopping’ in mind. It is a way to ease customers from the normal hassle to shop for groceries and school supplies at the same time.
It would enable more focus on school items, he said, noting that winners and friends were given a chance to win as many groceries during their maximum stipulated shopping spree time of a minute and a half.
DSL Brands Manager, Mr. Komalram Bisram observed that the promotion is being staged in conjunction with DSL’s tagline ‘The More you Shop, The Less you pay.’
He expressed pleasure at the fact that Breeze can partner with his company in such events.
Winners and their friends offered a variety of grocery items, including rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil, milk, Breeze soap powder and Quix.
The team of winner Leona Fredericks and friend Cathy Fraser walked away with $130,259 in groceries, Fraser being able to grab $21,088 worth from the racks.
Sherise Grant and Yonnete Jeffers captured a whopping $204,726 in total. Grant travelling all the way from New Amsterdam, Berbice, made her stay in the city worthwhile by winning $161,869 in goods for herself.
Sharon Lambert and Cherilyn James managed to collect $200,595 worth for themselves. Nervous, excited and overwhelmed were some of the terms that the winners used in describing their feelings about the event. Stating that they are constant users of Quix and Breeze, they vowed to continue in their use.
Marketing Coordinator of Bryden and Fernandes, Mr. Mark Kendall, also thanked DSL staff and the company for its support throughout the event.
The second drawing saw Breeze and Quix giving back $536,580 in groceries to customers, he said.
Kendall announced that 18 sprees are available and, as such, at each drawing, there would be three winners along with their three friends.
The next drawing would be on September 16, to close the promotion that started on July 18.
