Minibus conductor twisted policewoman’s hand behind her back

– Prosecutor
A MINIBUS conductor was remanded to prison yesterday on charges of obstructing and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a police officer.
Nineteen-year-old Curtis John (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton but was not required to plea to one of the offences, particulars of which said he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Shareeze Fraser on August 16, in Cornhill Street, Georgetown.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to having obstructed Fraser, a peace officer acting in execution of her duties the same day.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson requested reasonable bail for John, submitting that he is not a flight risk but Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, objected, stating that Fraser was in the process of carrying out her duties when the accused twisted one of her hands forcibly behind her back.
The prosecutor said the accused then escaped but was later apprehended by another police rank.
John will make his next court appearance on October 26.
