Man charged with $753,500 GCC burglary refused bail

ROYSTON Forde (no address given), charged with committing a $753,500 burglary at Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) was refused bail yesterday. Before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, the indictable charge of break and enter and larceny said, on August 15, he broke and entered the Bourda storeroom of the GCC and stole 20 bed frames and six pitch covers amongst items valued a total $753,500.
The unrepresented accused said he was not making any application because he has no one to bail him but Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, asked that he be remanded to prison.
The prosecutor said a security guard on duty saw the accused, in the company of other persons, removing the articles and one bed frame was recovered in his possession after the police were contacted.
Forde will be back in court on October 26.
