Windies to vie for World Cup spot in Dhaka qualifier

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – West Indies will do battle in Group B of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011 as they compete among 10 teams for four spots at the 2013 Cricket World Cup. In the Groups announced by the ICC yesterday, the regional side will face Pakistan, Ireland, Japan, Bangladesh in their side of the draw, in the tournament scheduled to run from November 14 to 25 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Group A, meanwhile, comprises South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Zimbabwe and the United States.
England, who won the last World Cup in Australia, secured automatic qualification for the 2013 event along with losing finalists New Zealand, and semi-finalists Australia and India.
West Indies will warm up for the qualification tournament when they face Pakistan in four One-Day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals starting at month end.
