THE police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 02:30 hrs on Wednesday at Ithaca, West Bank Berbice, during which contractor, Jermaine Benjamin, 37, was attacked and robbed by five men, one of whom was reportedly armed with a firearm. According to a police report, Benjamin was at home when the men broke into the building and held him at gunpoint. The men took away a quantity of jewellery and $2M in cash and escaped in his green Toyota Premio motor car, PNN 4184.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 12:15 hrs on Wednesday at Garnett Street, Kitty, during which Glenford Primo, 46, was attacked and robbed by a man who was armed with a handgun.
Investigations revealed that Glenford Primo was in his tyre shop when he was confronted by the armed man who made efforts to take away his gold chain. Primo resisted and was shot to his left thigh by the perpetrator who then grabbed the chain and escaped on a motor cycle driven by an accomplice. (Michel Outridge)
