Illegal stalls at Charity pose hazards

THE Charity River dam comes under the sea and river defence of Guyana. We in Charity have to be very careful with the cutting away of the mangrove and cruder trees so as to facilitate wharves and clearance; this will cause great damage to the river dam by way of erosion, thus causing losses to businesses and residents of Charity and its environs. We have suffered from several floods in the past. It’s time keen evaluation takes place so as to prevent a disaster from happening again.
The road which leads to the marketing centre is also taken over with huge illegal stalls which pose several disadvantages to legitimate businesses.
If an emergency is to happen, for example fire, then my writings will be appreciated since I have been sounding this warning for several years.
A special place was allocated by the NDC for vending but vendors took it on their own to erect illegal, permanent structures.
A visit by the Minister of Works will do us some good since his last visit last year bore some fruit.
