GSPCA shocked at brutal killing of dogs

The Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), on behalf of its executive committee and membership, yesterday expressed its profound shock and disgust at the recent brutal killing of dogs in Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
The organisation said that outrageously cruel acts such as these reveal to us the lowest depths of inhumanity.

GSPCA said not surprisingly, there is a fairly well-established link between those who perpetrate such atrocities on hapless animals and a tendency to commit other violent offences, including homicide.
The GSPCA, in a statement, urged concerned citizens to make their voices heard on this matter.
“The issue of animal abuse in Guyana needs to be placed under the national spotlight so as to stamp it out.
“The Society calls on persons who have witnessed the event to come forward and provide evidence so that the perpetrators may be brought to justice.
“The GSPCA is also hopeful that the Guyana Police Force will conduct a thorough investigation of the matter and take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that the perpetrators are dealt the full consequences of this criminal act.”
