10-yr- old still unconscious in hospital

…after Monday night fatal accident on Homestretch Avenue
Ten-year-old Sean Archibald, of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, who suffered severe injuries to the head and other parts of the body in the accident on Homestretch Avenue on Monday night, yesterday afternoon remained unconscious and on life support in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Sean’s sister, Tatiana Smith, 3 years old, who also suffered injuries to the head, and minor abrasions about the body, is still a patient at the Pediatric Ward.  Despite moments of pain, she is beginning to be chatty.

Yesterday she said, “she would take the nurse to the police station because she injected her.” Little Tatiana, who is afraid of needle pricks, keeps asking to be sent home so as to escape being given injections. Her condition, though serious, is listed as stable.

The third sibling, 16-year-old Desiree Archibald, who was discharged on Wednesday after having flints flushed out of her eye, is said to be doing well.
The other 8-year old girl injured in the accident is visiting US national, Ronissa Benjamin-Moore, who suffered a broken right leg and injuries to the neck.

Meanwhile, 22-year old Keisha Thorneton, who suffered severe injuries to the head and face, lost all her front teeth and had been bleeding from the nose, was yesterday slightly improved and was sitting up in bed.  She is expected to remain in hospital for some time yet.

The six were among several injured in the horrific accident on Homestretch Avenue that snuffed out the lives of five persons on Monday night.  Those killed were  39-year-old Coretta Benjamin, Head Teacher of  J.E. Burnham Primary School; her only child, 8-year-old Crizel Paul (killed on her birthday); 18-year-old Erica La Cruz;  Junior Duncan, 30, and Peter Mc Lennon 28, all of Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
