Chinese artists call on Burrowes School of Art

AN EIGHT-member  delegation of artists from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Burrrowes School of Art where they  met with the student body there and a number of local artists. The group, which spent some time in the interior and was scheduled to leave yesterday, has been involved in capturing Guyana’s unique biodiversity through art. The eight artists are expected to draw five paintings each of Guyana. They have been doing the sketches here and will be completing them in Beijing, China.
Next year will mark 40 years since Guyana and China established diplomatic ties, and to mark the occasion, the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport will host an art exhibition where the paintings will be showcased.
According to CPAFFC Vice-President, Mr. Luo Qin, the visiting artists were quite pleased with their time spent here, and felt honoured by the hospitality and friendliness of the people. (GINA)
