Campbelle hits ton for Cellink Berbice, as Essequibo catapult to second massive defeat
GUYANA and West Indies all-rounder and captain of the female Cellink Berbice Inter-county team, Shemaine Campbelle, emulated her West Indies teammate June Ogle-Thomas with an unbeaten ton of her own, as her team defeated Essequibo by 248 runs at the Demerara Cricket Club ground yesterday.

Playing in the second round of the competition against an opponent who were bowled out for 10 the previous day against Demerara, Cellink Berbice who are the defending champions chalked up 282 for 5 from their 44 overs of the match which got under way late due to the unpreparedness of the outfield.
Campbelle made an unbeaten 151 that was decorated with 11 fours and three sixes from the 121 balls she faced, while adding 207 for the fifth wicket with Trishanie Cort who made 65 from 105 balls with one four, as she (Campbell) reached her ton from 84 balls.
She celebrated in fine style, by hitting her opposite number Sheneigh Calvan, Malini Takeram and Rekha Roopnauth for her three sixes – two of them landing on moving vehicles on Lance Gibbs Street and Crown Street.
When Essequibo batted, they fared better in comparison to their previous day’s score, before being bowled out for 34 from 18.4 overs, with Calvan’s 7 being the top score, while Flassina Millington who took 3 for 6 along with Nikita Toney and Sabrina Munroe who took two wickets each for 1 and 6 runs respectively, contributed to the Cinderella County’s demise.
Cellink Berbice will now face Demerara at the Police Sports Club ground tomorrow in what will be a battle for the championship trophy.
Meanwhile, the  newly elected chairman of selectors of the Guyana Cricket Board Reon Griffith and his panel will select the Guyana team to compete in the Regional tournament.
