THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport refers to the short Court News item in the edition of  the Guyana Chronicle of Saturday  July 9, 2011 captioned “$250,000.00 BAIL FOR CAR THEFT”.

Please be informed that the accused ELVIN TAPPIN, known to this ministry as ELVET TAPPIN, was once a Senior Social Worker, dismissed from the Public Service with effect from 2000-12-17 under the provisions of the relevant Government Order.

His claim in court that he “is a social worker at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport” is quite erroneous and misleading.
