…and 19-yr-old skidder rider also killed
RUBENA Hutson became the latest road fatality on Sunday when she was reportedly struck down and killed by a motorcycle as she attempted to cross the road on Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown.
Police reported that at about15:00hrs at Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown, Hutson, 56, was struck down by the driver of motor cycle CD 3158 when she attempted to cross the road.
She was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment where she later succumbed.
The driver of the motorcycle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, her sister-in-law, Janice Cater, told the Guyana Chronicle that her relative was on her way home from work when she was killed.
She stated that as Hutson, of 258 Independence Boulevard, was about to cross the road she was hit down by the motorcycle as the driver turned back to speak to someone.
She added that Hutson was pitched several yards away from the point of impact and received serious injuries.
Hutson is the mother of one and was employed at Professional Guard Service (PGS).
And David Singh, 19, of Lima, Essequibo Coast,died in another accident which occurred at about 13:20hrs on Sunday along the UNAMCO Road, Upper Berbice River.
Investigations revealed that Singh was travelling on a skidder when it is alleged that he fell off the machine and was run over. He was taken to the Kwakwani Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
