DESPITE Nalini Sumintra’s five-wicket haul, defending champions East Coast Demerara (ECD) made a successful start to this year’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)-organised, Demerara Inter-Sub Association female limited overs tournament, when they defeated West Bank Demerara (WBD) by 36 runs at the Demerara Cricket Club ground yesterday.
Winning the toss and opting to take first strike, ECD reached 150 off 40.5 overs before they were bowled out, with extras top-scoring with 60 inclusive of 57 wides, while Fay Franklyn and skipper Reneka Isaacs contributed 45 and 26 respectively.
