MINISTER of Transport and Hydraulics Mr. Robeson Benn has reiterated the rules for the use of the Linden to Lethem road especially as it applies to heavily-laden vehicles in light of the recent accident that claimed one life. The Ministry of Public Works advises that the trail is now reopened to two-way traffic after repairs were effected on sections of two bridges near Surama and Moco Moco that collapsed while heavy-duty vehicles were attempting to cross.
The ministry stated that the prime cause of the accidents was due to poor driving alignment that resulted in the trucks driving off the bridge decking and planking.
Minister Benn is reiterating that the weight restrictions on heavily-laden vehicles remain in place and implored all motor vehicle operators traversing the trail to pay attention to the conditions of the infrastructure and take the necessary precautions.
