WEST Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul will join Warwickshire in July. The veteran of 130 Tests and 268 ODIs will join as the club’s overseas player for the remainder of the season when he arrives in around three weeks.
The Bears had Mohammad Yousuf for the first part of the campaign and have filled that gap with a player of equal standing and experience.
“It is universally acknowledged that Shiv is a class act and has proved his worth time after time at the highest level,” said Warwickshire’s director of cricket Ashley Giles.
“Not only does he possess the qualities and talents that we are looking for in abundance, but he also comes with a reputation as a hard-working cricketer, a great character and a professional with a tremendous work ethic.
We are delighted that he has agreed to join us for the vitally important final stages of our season.”
Chanderpaul, 36, also has experience of the English game with Durham and Lancashire. (PA Sport)
