Brazilian charged with conspiring to extend stay here

A BRAZILIAN has been charged with conspiring to forge a document for the extension of his stay in Guyana and uttering it.
Francisco De Jesus (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, accused of having conspired in and uttered the forgery.
One of the indictable charges said, between March 25 and June 16, 2011, with intent to defraud, he conspired together with persons unknown to forge an extension of stay stamp dated March 25 to September 24, purporting to show it was genuine.
The other allegation against De Jesus said, on June 16, at Ogle Airport, he uttered, to an immigration officer, a passport in favour of himself, with a false entry stamp, dated March 25 to September 24, inserted.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the alien entered this country through Lethem, Rupununi on June 16 and was boarding a plane to travel into the interior when the immigration officer on duty detected the false entry stamp.
With the prosecutor offering no objection, De Jesus was ordered to post $200,000 bail on each charge until July 11, during which time, the foreigner must report to Brickdam Police Station, in Georgetown, every Monday and Friday, pending  determination of the  cases.
