RYAN Foster (no address given) was sentenced to one year imprisonment and fined $10,000 yesterday, on conviction for smoking cannabis (marijuana).
He pleaded guilty, before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the offence, particulars of which said it was committed on June 13, in Main Street, Georgetown.
However, Foster pleaded not guilty resisting arrest by Verdin Harding, a member of the Neighbourhood Police.
The prisoner said the rank grabbed by his shirt collar and choked him and that case was transferred to another court, for June 20.
