Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, who is currently the acting President, yesterday joined members of the Anna Catherina masjid and other guests who participated in the annual Quaseeda competition. The prime minister said that it is good that events like the Quaseeda competition are held so that Guyanese can know more about the Prophet. He said the event should be held countrywide so that Guyanese who are not Muslims can know more about it and more about each other.
The Quaseeda competition is the recital of verses from the Quran. The first prize winners are Anasha Khan, junior female category; Bibi Shakeela Wahab, senior female category; Aslim Bacchus, male junior category; and Hussain Shakur, male senior category.
Presidential nominee of the PNC/R Mr. David Granger was also in attendance.
