CPG Outreach continues

-Pigeon Island group very active
MINISTER of Home Affairs Clement Rohee, continuing his security outreach meetings with residents along the East Coast of Demerara, complimented the members of the Pigeon Island Community Policing Group (CPG) for their diligence, dedication, sincerity and sacrifice.
Joseph Azeez, Chairman of the Pigeon Island CPG mentioned that his group comprising six rural constables (RCs) and 13 CPG members, since their formation to date, have made 51 patrols over 150 hours.
He thanked the Government and Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee, for equipping them and Gavin Primo, the Divisional Commander for co-operation from the police.
Minister Rohee in his address expressed gratitude to the residents of Pigeon Island for their turn out, since it the largest turn out since the outreach has started. He further stated that the issues raised are not strange to his Ministry; however residents have an obligation to produce authentic information whilst reporting to the police and CPG members.
He also said that the community has a personal responsibility in helping the government in achieving its objectives since the government can only put the necessary mechanisms and systems in place and it is therefore the community at large that has to make use of this so that they can be made safer.
Commander Primo in response to issues of CPG members being used as pawns in personal issues among residents said, that they (inclusive of RCs) ought to stay away from resident’s issues, by not allowing themselves to be used by any party.
Minister Rohee as part of government’s objective to create safer communities across Guyana has embarked on the security outreach to meet with residents and CPG members to listen to issues affecting them.(GINA)
