THE Chronicle editorial on Leadership was long overdue and this area must continue to receive the Chronicle’s attention, if they are indeed to be a voice for the people. Officials and their staff have an obligation to perform their duties with optimum effort and efficiency. Failure to do so affect the delivery of service to the nation and either diminishes or eradicates altogether service to the people. The Chronicle and any other fair minded media must recognize and call to account those persons at every level of governance that fail to discharge their individual responsibility and do a disservice to their fellow Guyanese.
No president or person can be responsible for every single act of wrongdoing or prevent such wrongs from occurring by others. For example, an investigation is required into why the polar beer case was discharged for want of the prosecution failure to provide evidence on seven occasions. Who is responsible or cares? Where is the accountability?
