LOCAL tennis players attached to clubs who are under the auspices of the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GTA) will swing into action on Tuesday, June 11, when the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI)-sponsored Open gets under way at the GBTI Sports Club. The tournament will run for a period of two weeks, culminating with the final on June 26 and will feature twelve categories.
Interested participants can uplift their entry forms from the GBTI Sports Club, Guyana Pegasus, Ram and McRae office or from their respective clubs and coaches and are reminded that closing date for the submission of entry forms is Tuesday, June 7.
Defending Men’s and Women’s champions, Jeremy Miller and Carol Humphrey, are expected to face stiff competition for their titles when the prestigious tournament, which is the second organised by the GTA for the year, gets under way.
The categories to be contested are as follows: Men’s Open Singles, Boys’ U-18 Singles, Ladies’ Open Singles, Girls’ U-18 Singles, Men’s Over-35 Singles, Men’s Over-45 Singles, Ladies’ Open Doubles, Men’s Open Doubles, Mixed Open Doubles, Men’s Over-35 Doubles, Men’s Over-45 Doubles and Men’s Over-55 Doubles.
